Project Summary

As a professional school we are judged on how well our curriculum position on the theory-practice continuum meets the needs of two communities: the academic arena of Journalism Studies and the profession of Journalism. This project's primary purpose is to maintain and increase student involvement in facilitating understanding of this important juncture through student-led interactive online teaching modules. We propose to create a series of ten modules that include video clips or pertinent journalism material on special topics, such as audio files, filmed or acquired by students throughout the academic year through archives or mainstream media, to enhance the existing curriculum of core journalism courses. The modules, organized to mirror course learning objectives, are important because they will form a live repository of television and radio journalism to facilitate student understanding of complex theoretical and ethical issues. The project will be under the supervision of Assistant Professor Alfred Hermida.
