Project Summary

We request resources to produce an innovative and user-friendly sustainability pathway and related curricula and learning tools for undergraduate Biology students, that can be adpted to other science specializations and FacuIties, across campus and beyond. Developing this pathway will dovetail campus leaders in sustainability learning (e.g. BIOL, EOS, USI), towards these ends:

  1. Design introductory curricula and a capstone sustainability course for Biology students;
  2. Create novel graphics (mindmaps) that clarify sustainability pedagogies, curricula, and learning pathways;
  3. Clarify core competency in Life, Earth, and environmental sciences via development and graphical rendering of essential/synthesis figures and mindmaps, and
  4. Coordinate 1-3 in an online resource for students and faculty.

A project coordinator will facilitate consultation, design, and completion of project outcomes. More broadly, collaborative development of these pedagogies, resources and curricular pathways will accelerate sustain-ability transformation at UBC, while producing adaptable approaches and useful scholarship on these vital transdisciplinary themes.
