Project Summary

This project is a revision of the Faculty of Education educational website “Teaching for Indigenous Education”, bringing it in line with educational policy and practices that have emerged in teacher education over the last three years. This redevelopment takes into account the BC Ministry of Education curriculum redesign, Calls-to-Actions by the Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation that bear directly on teacher education, and strategic plans at the university and faculty level that assert all students encounter Indigenous perspectives in coursework. This website for pre-service teachers will be updated with 1) exemplars that demonstrate teaching and learning of Indigenous perspectives by educators; 2) a set of student-developed podcasts reflecting Indigenous education priorities for educators; 3) recent curriculum resources that reflect policy developments. These updates distinguish this online resource from other educational learning sites and extend this resource beyond the required Indigenous educational course to give relevance to other pre-service coursework.
