Project Summary

Ethical Engagement for Climate and Environmental Justice expands opportunities to train students in ethical, community-engaged climate and environmental justice (CEJ) research, practice and knowledge mobilization. Several programs and offices support learning related to CEJ across both UBC campuses, but there is no single-point access to these opportunities for community partners seeking research collaborations, and students’ access to training opportunities for ethical and appropriate community engagement in academic and professional contexts varies across faculties.

The project will

  1. Create toolkits, guides, and other open educational resources for community partners, students, and faculty on the topic of ethical CEJ.
  2. Create a new, interdisciplinary course (ASIC 3XX) in ethical engagement for CEJ for students across the Faculties of Arts, Sciences, and Education.
  3. Support the development of a future Climate Justice Research Shop at UBC designed to provide professional development opportunities for students and a gateway for new CEJ partnerships at UBC.
