Project Summary

Although eating disorders (EDs) are psychological illnesses with the highest mortality rates, people suffering face tremendous barriers to access the multidisciplinary treatment required. This is in part due to the knowledge gap within health care professionals on the unique presentations of EDs and the influences of weight stigma and bias. To help address this issue, project (called 'EMPHASize) will develop and implement innovative online learning modules for health program students to gain knowledge surrounding weight stigma/bias and the different presentations of EDs. The goal is to increase student knowledge and thus remove barriers for optimal and timely treatment.
