| Project Summary | Experiential education is essential for preparing students for practice. The Entry-to-Practice Doctor of Pharmacy (E2P PharmD) program requires students to complete practicums within authentic practice settings. Making up 25% of the curriculum, students complete a total of 42.5 weeks of experiential education across eight courses over this four-year program. The transition from learning in the classroom to real-world practice settings can be challenging, with some students struggling and/or failing to demonstrate competency in expected knowledge and skills. Currently, support for students experiencing challenges on practicum has involved individualized remediation plans with no formalized, replicable educational approach. Aligned with Canada’s accreditation standards for E2P PharmD programs, this project aims to address the need for comprehensive remediation in pharmacy experiential education curriculum. Informed by self-regulation and professional identity formation learning theories, this remediation program is intended to support students’ development of practice readiness. |
