Project Summary

The Centre for Teaching and Academic Growth (TAG) has operated since 1986 as a key academic service provider. Our many programs, services and resources promote interactivity and interdisciplinary to enhance teaching and learning at UBC. Members of the UBC teaching community depend upon TAG to achieve their goals of enhancing student learning through the process of active inquiry.

We ask for TLEF funding to:

(a) Continue to pay:

  • our TAG part-time staff (one Clerk, three faculty Associates, three graduate students and one undergraduate student), who design, oversee, implement or assist with each of the programs, services and resources described below;
  • our facilitators (faculty and staff members, graduate and undergraduate students from a wide variety of faculties and units at UBC, and members of the broader community; approximately 100 people in total) who lead workshops and seminars each year;
  • the cost of facilities bookings, print materials and other expenses; and

(b) Allows to adapt or expand modestly specific programs, services and resources to meet the stated needs of members of the UBC teaching community and the goals and strategies outlined in TREK 2000 and the Draft Academic Plan.

  • Faculty Certificate Program on Teaching in Higher Education
  • Academic Growth - Support for New Faculty Members
  • Teaching and Learning Resources
  • Outreach
  • Peer Consulting
  • Seminar Series and Institutes
