Project Summary

Open and accessible assessment mechanisms and strategies are a core component of equitable and inclusive teaching at UBC. The UBC Department of Computer Science proposes to pilot online, auto-graded student assessments via an open-source and freely available software tool called PrairieLearn (https://prairielearn.readthedocs.io/en/latest/). We will deploy this tool within a secure testing facility, providing a complete solution for delivering secure, robust, automated exams. The two components, PrairieLearn (PL) and the Computer Based Testing Facility (CBTF) will be developed incrementally and somewhat independently. The focus of this proposal is to support faculty as they migrate assessment content to the new, open software web platform (PL), and to create a campus community around its use.
