Project Summary | In May 2000, CANCOPY made it possible through its new Post-secondary Electronic Course Content Service (PECCS) for Canadian universities to digitize and provide online access to copyrighted course materials. Networking course readings has clear benefits for students. The materials will be available from a campus or home computer, anytime, day or night, and students will no longer have to vie with others for readings that are out on loan, missing or otherwise unavailable due to heavy demand. The objective of this E-Course Reserve project is to explore the licensing and provision of electronic access to copyrighted course materials through the CANCOPY PECCS service. The Library will focus on those core readings which have historically shown heaviest demand by students in the arts, life sciences and medicine. We will continue to work closely with campus partners to bring these materials together with other course information in the myUBC student portal. |
