Project Summary

In last year's Centre for Teaching and Academic Growth's (TAG) application to the TLEF, we outlined the forces that were affecting the nature of teaching and learning at UBC and elsewhere. These included burgeoning learning technologies, a wave of new hiring, increased instructional development at the Faculty level, and the University's commitment to internationalization. In that application, we proposed to meet these changing needs by fostering important partnerships with others supporting teaching and learning.

Over the course of 2003, we have built upon these partnerships, as we proposed in our 03/04 TLEF application. Concurrent with this (and, perhaps partly because of it) our teaching community is placing growing demands on TAG and its partners. In this year's TLEF application, we propose a plan to meet these demands. Thus, you will see plans for careful growth of our programs and partnership work. These will be clearly identified as such through the application. In addition, we continue to expand our consultation activity and move forward with new program initiatives.

This year's application, then, is very much about growth. It is in our Centre's name, and it is a theme that pervades our work and planning.
