Project Summary | This proposal is an extension of a project that was initiated in collaboration with the Continuing Legal Education Society. The purpose of the project is to develop, with the assistance of the Department of Distance Education and Technology, a two-credit online addition to a pre-existing mediation course for the Bachelor of Law program. The course will be delivered in a hybrid manner using both in-class instruction and WebCT and will make use of a combination of inquiry-based and problem-based learning approaches. Learners will be introduced to the advantages and disadvantages of online mediation and the unique skills involved in mediating both asynchronously in the online environment and through video-conferencing. As well, they will learn to compare and contrast effectiveness of online and face-to-face mediation processes and to demonstrate effective mediation skills for an online mediation. |
