| Project Summary | This proposal outlines a project to establish and evaluate study partnerships using social networking applications between final year Canadian Nursing students at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and second year undergraduate Science Education students at the University of Plymouth (UoP) in the UK. The project aims to evaluate the use of social networking applications with international interdisciplinary partnerships, particularly in their ability to promote the exchange of ideas and discussion of scientific philosophy in European and North American contexts, and facilitate exchange ideas between students working in disciplines with differing philosophical perspectives (modem/post-modem, quantitative/qualitative, empirical/theoretical etc). This project will also enable us to explore the value of social-networking applications (networking Websites, BLOGS and WIKIS) in facilitating learning in this area. The project will give us an opportunity to evaluate their function in an educational context, and as a tool in promoting international student partnerships and collaboration. |
