Year 2: Summary | A UBC Student Coordinator works with UBC Student volunteers and Musqueam youth outreach workers to run a science and math club on the Musqueam Reserve. The after-school club takes place on Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:30, and is now open to Musqueam youth age 7 to 12. The initiative uses fun, dynamic, hands-on activities in math and science to build upon and improve foundational skills. Currently, in its second year the program has continued to flourish and grow. In the first hour the youth enjoy a healthy snack, engage in activities that have included, take home terrariums, take home herb gardens, math mania, and bridge building, In the second hour we move to the Musqueam community gym and spend 45 to 50 min playing games. |
