Project Summary | The purpose of this project is to enhance interdisciplinary education in health and human service delivery for vulnerable populations. In collaboration with public and not-for-profit sectors we will develop a new undergraduate, 3-credit interdisciplinary course in the theory and practice of outreach. Outreach is a highly effective practice across varied health and human services to enable some of the most vulnerable groups in society to access essential life sustaining services. Outreach workers are among the fastest growing health and human service workforce and a common career path for graduating students from a range of health and social science disciplines. Our proposed course addresses significant gaps in the education and preparation of this workforce and will provide substantial benefits to current students and practicing clinicians requiring continuing professional development. The proposed online design includes real-time content delivery that integrates new teaching technologies into case-based interactive learning. This project includes synthesis of relevant literature and consultation and collaboration with faculty, students and multi-sector outreach program leaders. |
