| Project Summary | (1) The applicants have a Skylight development grant to develop large-scale interdisciplinary case studies for the Science One program. In conjunction with these case studies, we propose to take some of the 4-hour lecture blocks in the students’ time-table and transform them into an interdisciplinary flipped-classroom setting. A major support for student learning will rely on a series of 10-20 minute “lecture-casts” that we propose to develop and upload to Connect. Students will watch these "lecture-casts" in conjunction with readings. They will then come prepared to tackle the large case studies in lecture. (2) We have access to an alumni group of over 430 prior Science One students. We propose to design and implement a survey that will give us insight into the long-term implications of the Science One experience. Feedback from alumni will help us focus our efforts for part (1) above. |
