Project Summary

Currently, the UBC MD Undergraduate Program is undergoing a major renewal process. One of the important changes involves a shift from Problem Based Learning (PBL) to Case Based Learning (CBL). In this context, the proposed project is designed to: a) Adapt four existing PBL cases to the format of CBL in a manner that will enable peer facilitation and peer feedback, strategies that have been proven effective in the context of PBL. b) Design and pilot a process for the use of peer facilitation and peer feedback in CBL, and c) Assess the effectiveness of peer facilitation and peer feedback in the context of CBL and formulate recommendations for the possible broad implementation of these strategies in the renewed distributed medical curriculum.
