Project Summary

We propose to continue to create science-specific writing resources for instructors and students in SCIE 113/300, UBC, and beyond. The ability to communicate scientific information, including using strong scientific arguments, is a critical "real-world" skill for our students. Science-specific resources are important because they are more relevant and motivating to science students than general resources. Our objectives for year three of our project are to expand our pool of high-quality instructional resources, disseminate resources for writing educators, and continue to strengthen the connections between our project and existing programs and centres on campus.

To broaden the impact of our project, we propose to create multimedia resources for learners and educators that will be available online. We will evaluate our project in a number of ways, including student feedback, pilot testing of instructional resources, course evaluation surveys, feedback from focus groups and/or student interviews, expert reviews, and examination of student work.

The feedback we have received on our resources so far from faculty and students has been very positive.
