Project Summary

UBC is home to 21 engineering student design teams who design, build, and complete projects such as electric race cars, autonomous robots and boats, and satellites. These extracurricular projects complement the engineering curriculum and enhance students' degrees.

The UBC Engineering Student Teams Council (ESTC) serves to support, regulate, and represent its consitutent student design teams within the university with a goal of facilitating their success. Currently, the resources available to these teams are inadequate for them to thrive. The ESTC plans to improve the quality and availability of resources to ensure the immediate and long-term success of design teams, as well as to maximize the positive impact the experience has on students' degrees.

Three critical areas of improvement have been identified: (1) improvements to facilities and increased physical resources (i.e. tools, safety gear, and equipment), (2) improved accessibility of equipments, and (3) better integration of team activities with the engineering curriculum.
