Project Summary | The proposed project will create and evaluate an online open access learning resource, which combines team-based learning (TBL) case studies with the immersive media including Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), to foster learning engagement and enrich student learning in the APBI402/SOIL502 course and to provide supplemental information in additional 6 UBC courses (APBI 200, 401 & 444; FRST 201 & 439; SOIL 501). There is a unique and rare opportunity to utilize research data obtained by several soil science studies in South Africa to develop TBL cases supported by immersive media that will provide students with meaningful understanding of location-based content. This will enhance interactive, collaborative, and reflective student learning about soil quality as affected by forest management practices not just in Canadian forest ecosystems, but also in international context using tropical and subtropical forests of South Africa as examples. |
