Project Summary | This project will curate, design and make accessible open-learning modules to support UBC students for respectful engagement with the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre (IRSHDC). This project aims to equip students with accurate information and motivate instructors through examples of how to effectively bring knowledge of Indian Residential Schools (IRS) into the classroom. This project is driven by the recognition that many instructors may not be experts in the area of Indigenous research; however, they are seeking venues and resources to support their work to initiate meaningful learning and discussion opportunities. Classrooms and other learning environments at UBC are spaces where initial skills to think critically about positionality, place and contemporary contexts for learning can take shape. The project will provide tools and space so these skills can be applied to support student learning, enabling deeper reflection and connection to the disciplinary contexts in which students operate. |
