| Project Summary | The objective of this project is to establish a new, integrated genetics laboratory course within the Biology Program that will enhance students' understanding of eukaryotic genetics and provide them with laboratory skills in genetics and molecular biology. The Biology Program, jointly administered by the Departments of Botany and Zoology, is the largest undergraduate degree program within the Faculty of Science. Genetics is central to all biological sub-disciplines, and is at the core of the Biology Cell Biology and Genetics Major option, the most popular within the Biology Program. Students and faculty agree that a new genetics laboratory incorporating multiple organisms and concepts is key to understanding modem genetics, and for preparing students for careers in biology. In this proposal, we will design, test, and implement a new integrated genetics laboratory that will meet these goals. |
