Project Summary

The aim of this project is to enhance accessibility, flexibility, and inclusivity for diverse learners by creating hybrid and online versions of Family Context of Human Development (FMST 210). By developing high-quality digital learning materials, interactive activities, and accessible assessments, these courses will create new opportunities for students with varying needs and who may be balancing multiple commitments (e.g., work, family). Both versions will maintain the academic rigor and engagement of the face-to-face course while fostering self-directed learning and agency. This project aligns with UBC’s Strategic Plan 2025 – 2030 to create flexibility for learners by increasing program and pathway flexibility, and access. This project addresses the 2026/27 TLEF Priority Focus area of Education Renewal by developing and offering hybrid and online courses to enhance flexibility and accessibility for students. Ultimately, this project broadens participation and foster a more equitable, student-centered approach to teaching and learning in the Sociology Department.
