| Duration | 1 Year |
| Initiation | 04/01/2026 |
| Project Summary | This project will build teaching resources that bridge the communication and understanding gaps among designers, scientists, and engineers who work together on real-world projects for climate resiliency, biodiversity and restoration. Led by a SALA professor with a Faculty of Forestry collaborator, the team will study environmental-enhancement projects in BC involving collaboration between landscape architects and ecologists. Through fieldwork and expert interviews with these interdisciplinary project teams, we will reveal how specialist knowledge, language, and professional practices of these different domains enhanced or diminished environmental outcomes. These findings will be compiled into an online collection of short multimedia lessons made available to students and teachers. This teaching resource can be integrated into coursework and serve as an independent reference source to enhance the teaching of design, planning, and ecology across SALA and BUF. Students will benefit by gaining first-hand insight and exposure to experienced ecologists and practitioners without leaving the classroom. |
