Project Summary | Our purpose is to strengthen UBC’s support of, and expertise in, Experiential Education (EE) in ways that explicitly centre critical and decolonizing approaches (see Grain et al., 2023; Grain & Gerhard, 2020). The project has two main aims: (1) evaluating and strengthening two graduate courses that focus on experiential pedagogies and field placements through the lens of critical pedagogy, anti-racism, accessibility, and decolonizing practices; and (2) engaging in knowledge exchange and mobilization through four mechanisms: (a) a handbook of experiential pedagogies to be developed by students in the courses; (b) an updated and enhanced Experiential Education blog site (https://blogs.ubc.ca/experiential), to include new resources and student projects; (c) the creation of an open-access module on EE and literature review, hosted on the EDST Online Learning Library and publicized on the EE blog; and (d) the organization and hosting of pedagogical gatherings of faculty and students interested in EE pedagogical practices. |
