Project Summary

This project brings together a team of educators with experience in writing-based and integrity pedagogies and learning technology specialists from Arts ISIT. The project extends an educative framework to new challenges and opportunities presented by GenAI in the Faculty of Arts, in courses in which writing plays a key role in students’ understanding of foundational, discipline-specific knowledge and practice, including academic integrity.

To support students and faculty learning and teaching how write with integrity in a time of GenAI, this project will:

  1. establish a sustainable network of faculty and staff who collaboratively respond to the significant and evolving challenges GenAI presents to the role writing plays in teaching and learning in Arts.
  2. generate shareable, adaptable materials on GenAI and writing that build on scholarship from academic integrity studies, writing studies, and other relevant fields and that address the particular questions and concerns of UBC Arts’ students and instructors.
