Project Summary | Students are currently prepared for experiential learning in the Entry-to-Practice Doctor of Pharmacy (E2P PharmD) Program through large class (n>200 students) orientations utilizing a passive, lecture-style format. Consistent student feedback indicates these lectures are unengaging, ineffective, and poorly timed. A September 2019 survey found that less than half of students felt that the practicum orientation lectures appropriately prepared them and only 14% felt the lectures were engaging. Whiteboard animation videos are effective teaching tools but their use has not yet been detailed in experiential education. This project seeks to create a catalogue of videos using VYONDTM, with content that is concise, relevant, and fully accessible. Transitioning to this video format will allow instructors to instead utilize class time for participatory activities and more in-depth discussions about practicum experiences. This format is anticipated to lower barriers to learning and better engage and support students within experiential education. |
