Project Summary | *Special Call: Interdisciplinary Team-Teaching Grant* We teach a brand new course, Gender and Health, accessible to all students at UBC. The instructors and students in this course thus reflect interdisciplinarity. The organizing context of the course is global climate change and its influence and impact on emotional health. Our current students have a strong interest in learning more about Indigenous health healing theories and practices, partly to address “ecoanxiety”. Our course includes readings and videos of Indigenous concepts of health which have piqued our students’ curiosity. For the next offering of the course, Sept 2020, we propose to bring healers from the Nanaimo-area healing centre, Tsow-Tun Le Lum, to explain cosmological frameworks for their healing work and provide the students with a deep learning opportunity, which we’ll evaluate. We will video record the talks and sessions and then put them on CLAS for students in future offerings of the course. |
