Project Summary | For twenty years, the Art History Graduate Symposium has provided an invaluable opportunity for graduate students in Art History and related disciplines to present papers in a critical and scholarly environment, and to provide an open forum for discussion between students from UBC and universities across north America and oversees. To commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the event we will extend this year’s symposium to two days allowing for presentations by former participants and alumni working professionally in the field to be heard along side student papers. In conjunction with the extended event an exhibition will be held at Centre A: The Vancouver for Contemporary Asian Art that will reflect the issues and concerns raised by the theme of the symposium. We anticipate a rich dialogue unfolding between the students at UBC, alumni, and faculty as well as with the larger artistic community both within Vancouver and beyond. |
