| Project Summary | The objective of this initiative is to offer one-stop shopping for students pursuing career goals and for employers recruiting students or graduates of the Faculty of Forestry. The largest new program in the Career Centre is a Faculty cooperative education program, which will be expanded to all degree programs in the Faculty of Forestry. Such a program will provide participating students with relevant practical experience, which will facilitate their entry into the job market in appropriate positions. It will also enable participating students to explore different career options while still at school. Non-participating students will enjoy indirect benefits. The co-op office will be integrated with existing services presently delivered by student services (advertisement of summer jobs and permanent positions), international programs (international work experience), conservation volunteers program (volunteer work experience) and conservation career services (after graduation career opportunities). It will also be expanded to include services for all students of the Faculty. The resulting Career Centre will offer useful information, services and links for all students. Integration of all services will result in a more efficient approach of employers and better marketing and more aggressive recruiting at all levels. Funding is requested to help offset high costs during the start-up phase that have precluded the (much desired and most expensive) co-op option from being implemented before. |
