| Project Summary | Many graduate students at UBC are working on thesis topics related to Law and Development, despite the fact that no such courses are currently offered here at the graduate or undergraduate level. We propose to offer a graduate seminar in law and development with a truly international group of excellent faculty and graduate students, to be taught simultaneously at the Institute for Commonwealth Studies at the University of London and UBC. The course will be designed to utilize the principles of both active learning and peer education. Its weekly interactions on an online discussion forum and videoconferenced international classroom will foster active engagement with the topic among a diverse group of peer learners. This proposal is modelled on a successful transnational collaboration already undertaken at the undergraduate level by Professors Buchanan and Pahuja, and described in a forthcoming article for the Journal of Legal Education. |
