Project Summary | This proposal aims to create an animation of the pregnancy test that will support the learning of pharmacy students and the training of graduate teaching assistants. The animation will be greatly facilitated by using, as template, a poster I have designed to illustrate the steps involved in the detection of the pregnancy hormone (hCG) by immunoassay. Based on a student survey, an animated pregnancy test as web-based interactive teaching resource accessible through the course website will enhance the teaching of the immunoassay module. Despite the use of the pregnancy test poster as teaching tool students have, in general, difficulty visualizing the detection of hCG in a real dynamic system which inevitably prevents in depth understanding of the process. Once established, this project will complement perfectly an existing database of several experimental techniques video (Computer Modules) at the Faculty and will also support the implementation of a new curriculum in Pharmaceutical Sciences. |
