| Project Summary | This proposal describes an approach for making currently captured institutional Leaming Management System (LMS) data available to teaching faculty in an easily interpretable interface. These data identify levels of student engagement and provide the capacity for developing early indicators of student disengagement. Current studies conducted in Australia, United States and a research project just commenced at UBC have identified the potential for utilizing existing user tracking data derived from learning management systems (LMS) such as Bb Vista (WebCT), to inform administrators and educators of lead indicators of both student learning and course engagement. This project will develop an evaluative interface which displays information regarding student online interactions. The evaluative data will be sourced from Bb Vista and synthesised into a readily interpretable interface, providing objective, non-invasive, real-time information on the effectiveness of implemented learning and teaching activities, as well as ongoing student engagement information at course, program or faculty level. |
