Project Summary | UBC's Creative Writing Program is unique, offering eight genres of study, where most BFA and MFA-level Creative Writing programs offer only two or three. We are preparing to offer two entirely new genres: Graphic Novel & Manga and Digital Storytelling & New Media. These new genres hold great promise, not only in increasing our attractiveness to students, but also in their potential use of new technologies to enhance teaching and learning. This proposal seeks funding to create a framework for delivery of these new genres, one which uses new technologies to aid in teaching while providing a solid grounding in the tools which will enable students to produce their own creative works. The framework will consist of two main parts: innovative delivery methods and the new media lab - instruction which will allow students in these courses and others to learn the new tools and techniques of digital creativity. |
