Faculty/College/UnitMedicine
StatusCompleted
Duration1 Year
Initiation04/01/2010
Completion03/31/2011
Project Summary

The disseminated nature of medical education at UBC produces a number of challenges for Emergency Medicine learners and teachers alike. Learners attend a variety of sites and settings, but are expected to meet the same objectives. Teachers and learners at the various Emergency Departments affiliated wilh UBC Medical Programs have very different types of clinical encounters and teaching opportunities.

An online Wiki site will help standardize and enhance the educational experience by allowing teachers and learners to share and develop relevant learning resources.

The site will be a home for: five-minute bedside teaching modules — creation, collaboration, review
Teaching outlines and resources for longer didactic sessions (not formal lectures).

  • Videos and Podcasts of Rounds presentations from across the province
  • Resources for teaching, faculty development, clinical information
  • Forums for teaching and learning support

This project is linked to a broader collection of Emergency Medicine Communities of Practice called
Evidence2Excellence, or E2E as well as the newly formed UBC Department of Emergency Medicine.
