| Project Summary | Helping students become global citizens able to foster sustainability throughout the globe within diverse contexts, is among society’s foremost challenges. The proposed TLEF projects will grow UBC’s excellence in sustainability training by creating new internationally-relevant teaching materials emphasizing the perspectives and involvement of local and indigenous people. To do so, we propose to capitalize on the skills of select UBC graduate students working in international conservation in diverse environs in the developing world. TLEF funding will also develop innovative geo-spatial datasets to address long-term landscape change in rapidly changing areas. The funds requested will also support the participation of several UBC graduate students in an international resilience workshop to incorporate cutting-edge ideas directly into our teaching materials. The modest funding request is solely for the time and expertise of three exceptional UBC graduate students who will develop course materials related to their collaborations with local/indigenous people. |
