Project Summary

The purpose of this project is to create a sustainable professional development website for a required course taken by all prospective teachers in the secondary BEd program. An ongoing goal of the course is to engage students in rich language and literacy practices and instructional techniques, including the use of digital resources. For this course to continue to reach its potential, and provide a model for other multi-section courses, it needs a flexible, generative, and participatory website. The new site would allow for the development, collection, posting and sharing of resources among coordinators, instructors, current and former students in the course, as well as allow possibilities for interfaces with other universities.

The proposed steps include: web design, developing a content management system, evaluating and producing resources, instructor sharing of materials and continual uploading of new resources, examining use by current students, evaluating the site with instructor feedback, and gauging participation by former students/practicing teachers and new student cohorts.
