Project Summary | “Breathless Days: 1959 - 1960" is an important international interdisciplinary conference, art exhibition and online wikispace project hosted by UBC’s Department of Art History, Visual Art and Theory (May 1-2, 2010). The conference and its associated initiatives will revisit an understudied historical moment to make fresh connections between politically charged events and cultural production of the postwar years 1959 - 1960. The TLEF project “'Breathless Days: 1959 - 1960' Audio Taping and Conference Website” will preserve and present the proceedings of these events as learning, research and teaching tools for students and faculty. The conference presentations will be recorded and podcast in real time, allowing an international audience to participate in the proceedings. Following the conference, a website will be produced to archive the recorded presentations. Additional content will be developed for the website by graduate students and faculty members from the conference proceedings, an art exhibit, research presented in the poster session, and wikispace online project. |
