Project Summary

The MFA in Visual Art program in the Department of Art History, Visual Art, and Theory equips artists with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge to make critical and engaging work within the context of an ever-changing contemporary art world. This project seeks to further develop the creative potential of emerging visual artists in the graduate program, by providing them with advanced digital technology through an enhancement of the University’s existing equipment facilities. Current computer, video, and sound technology available to our students are outdated. Teaching and learning environments change rapidly with developments in digital technology, especially in the field of visual culture and art. This grant will allow us to facilitate and maintain a high quality of art-making in the graduate program and more broadly, within the wider art community, where emerging artists have the ability to be at the forefront of the revolution of critical art discourse and visual art practice.
