Year 1: Summary

The TLEF funding will support the 2008 UBC entry into the RoboCup Competition and Conference and the creation of an infrastructure that will allow for improving the existing partnerships between the Faculty of Applied Science and student projects.
Involvement in the team has provided the students with a very comprehensive learning experience and it is in the interest of the applicants to extend that experience to as many students as possible.

The funding will cover the costs of two co-op students for the summer of 2008 and provides ten students with partial funding to attend the conference. The students will work in the RoboCup lab under the supervision of Dr. Sassani, the principal applicant. The primary goals of one of the students will be to act as the coordinator so that as many students as possible are able to work together as a coherent team over the summer and the other student will be responsible to set up an infrastructure to allow for years of successful student initiated projects that are supported by the Faculty of Applied Science. This level of student involvement and success will not be possible without two students at the top that are able to dedicate all of their time to the project.
