Project Summary

Arts continues to revitalize undergraduate learning. In keeping with Trek 2010, “to make the big small wherever appropriate,” we have introduced a cohort learning portal for first year students — the Co-ordinated Arts program (with original TLEF support). As of September 2010 five themes are thriving: PPE (Politics, Philosophy, Economics, n=137); New Media (n=94); Individual and Society (n=82); Law and Society (n=61) and Global Citizenship (n=83). We plan to expand and enrich CAP again next year by increasing enrolments in the current streams and by adding a fifth stream (either Indigenous Studies or Popular Culture, n=100). Last year we expanded our first year research conference with good success and this year we will support the third annual CAP research conference on April 1, 2011. CAP has undergone a very successful internal review examining student satisfaction, student achievement, faculty contributions, and international recruitment, among other issues (copies available on request).
