Project Summary | UBC has launched a distributed medical education program which creates new opportunities for clinical training across the Province of British Columbia, doubling undergraduate class sizes over a period of ten years in Northern British Columbia, on Vancouver Island, in the Fraser Valley, in the BC interior, and in Vancouver. UBC Surgery has a longstanding history of successfully mentoring and training medical students with exciting surgical rotations utilizing state-of-the art technology in the OR setting at BC Children’s Hospital. Given the increasing number of medical student training positions in Surgery, it is essential that we facilitate access to the Operating Room Classroom as a resource to undergraduate learners, The goal of this initiative is to videotape key cases in Pediatric Surgery as an innovative online learning resource for students. Medical students will gain new skills through direct involvement involved in the filming, producing, editing, and narrating surgical learning resources. |
