Project Summary

The Nutritional Sciences major and the Food Nutrition & Health major account for over 41% of the students in the Faculty of Land and Food Systems. To date, there has been no curriculum review or post-graduation follow-up for this sizable cross-section of students. To fill critical gaps in knowledge, we propose to develop and implement electronic surveys of current students and alumni of each major to track career goals, perceived program satisfaction in terms of career preparation, and career trajectories. This information will provide the following benefits: improving quality of advising for current and prospective students regarding career opportunities and course selection; informing curriculum revision to enhance career options and to address current curricular gaps; and identifying employers for further consultation, co-op contacts and potential employment opportunities. Two students will be recruited to assist with survey development, implementation, and data anaIysis. Survey tools and analysis methods established for this project will be used in future years for ongoing assessment of the impact of curriculum changes on program satisfaction and career development of students and graduates.
