Project Summary

The Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) was developed in BC over thirty years ago to provide basic instructional skills to post-secondary instructors, and has since been adopted by hundreds of institutions in dozens of countries around the world. The UBC Mathematics department has been offering ISWs for several years now, specially adapted and delivered by Dr. Joanne Nakonechny.

We would like to develop this programme further and build our capacity to offer ISWs for all graduate student instructors as well as all Postdoctoral visitors and regular faculty who wish to participate. We would further develop the math-specific program, materials and resources, arrange to publish and share our work with the larger ISW community worldwide, provide additional training and professional development for existing facilitators, train new facilitators, and engage in ongoing commitments to the ISW community of practice via participation in planning and development meetings, conferences, etc.
