Project Summary

In order to handle crowded classrooms in mathematics, many instructors make multiple versions of their tests. We will develop a software application that allows us to distribute the multiple versions of questions to markers via the internet. This significantly reduces the time spend handling paper and other logistical problems stemming from having many test versions. Additionally, marking tests online allows better comments and richer feedback - both through an advanced annotation interface and also through the time saved by reducing logistical headaches.

The software is completely open source which allows for easy dissemination, and also has the potential to inspire a community of users and developers. The software has obvious applications in mathematics classes, but can also be used in any course in which the assessment consists of short answer questions. By making the software open-source, we hope that colleagues both inside UBC and beyond will be able to take advantage of this system.
