Project Summary

This two phase project aims to provide resources to students and faculty to improve the landscape of learning at UBC and to generate a centre for innovation around assessment of student learning. The first phase will be to establish a central exam database, which will provide equal access to students to engage with past examinations to better prepare for summative course evaluations. The second phase of this project will create professional development programming and pilot projects for faculty members to provide resources and support for the development of assessments that better probe student learning. Beyond improving the here and now, this proposal takes along term approach to shaping assessment of student learning at UBC and beyond. This project will establish a central hub on campus to fuel pilot projects and studies around innovative methods of student assessment and examination to help inform best practices in teaching and learning.
