Project Summary | UBC welcomes diversity. The Department of Physical Therapy encourages applicants from a variety of undergraduate programs and life experiences. Many are mature learners or seeking to change careers. Some pre-requisite courses do not include (or students may have forgotten) essential pre-requisite material critical for the Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) program. We propose to design a student-centred, self-assessment system (‘Quick-Check’) for students to address knowledge gaps before class. We have initiated a collaboration between MPT students, instructors, and CTLT to create an accessible online knowledge base and self-assessment system. The system will be readily accessible and address a critical need. The design will be informed by a systematic review of pre-requisite testing methods using online strategies. Students will be involved In the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the ‘Quick-Check’ system to be modified following student feedback. The project impacts 80 MPT students/year. The system’s template will also be useful to other UBC programs. |
