Project Summary

This project will provide the technological infrastructure necessary to support the development of digital media integration within live performances, and in pre- and post-concert community engagement by the students, performing ensembles, and graduate conductors in the UBC School of Music. Through the use of advanced, high-powered digital projection during live performances, and integrated post-production media and digital resources, the performances by the students, ensembles, and graduate student conductors of the UBC School of Music will engage more effectively and vibrantly with members of the community, including youths in local and remote British Columbia schools. As the paradigm of engaging audiences in public arts performances shifts, this project will enable the UBC School of Music to be poised as leaders in the next generation of community engagement through digital media and will train our students to be active, successful and relevant in this rapidly developing field.
