| Project Summary | The newly established Human Powered Vehicle Team at the University of British Columbia was formed by an enthusiastic group of students with one common goal: designing and building a safe human powered vehicle capable of participating in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Human Powered Vehicle Challenge (HPVC). The annual ASME HPVC takes place in the United States and South America, where teams are challenged to design a potential commuter vehicle powered solely by its driver, eliminating the harmful by-products of both gas and alternatively powered vehicles. The TLEF funds would allow us to explore a wide range of engineering concepts, passing those skills on to our team members, aiding both personal and academic growth. Furthermore, it will allow the team to spread engineering knowledge to the team members from other faculties. As a result, these funds will help strengthen and establish UBC’s reputation at home and abroad. |
