Project Summary | TLEF funding is requested to create tutorial materials (including student tasks, animations, videos, graphics and glossaries) that will support and supplement course laboratory work and provide real-world context on how state-of-the-art Digital Wood Fabrication equipment is used in industrial situations. The Centre for Advanced Wood Processing has recently added two new pieces of equipment to its laboratories that allow for digital wood fabrication, namely a robotic timber processor and a three-dimensional printer that can print with wood-based materials. Including these two devices - which are unique at UBC - into the respective educational streams, will enhance undergraduate learning in the programs of the Departments of Wood Science, Civil Engineering and the School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. |
