Project Summary | The Aboriginal Forestry Information Repository will be a Canvas-based platform that will provide easily-accessible resources to support the inclusion of more Aboriginal content in programming and research in the Faculty of Forestry. The proposed activities are informed by Faculty and student feedback derived from a survey of Faculty instructors, feedback from the Faculty’s Aboriginal Curriculum Committee, and exit interviews with Aboriginal students. The repository will consist of three sections: 1) Instruction - Develop modules and professional development materials for Faculty instructors to implement into existing classes; 2) Research - a database of electronic resources featuring past and current projects in the Faculty, as well as guidelines for ethical research with Indigenous communities, and 3) Community - a space for cross-cultural dialogue where Aboriginal communities can access information and connect with researchers. Undergraduate and Graduate students are involved with each stage of the project. |
